Guided Imagery, directed daydremaing which is used to target specific issues, is another technique I frequently use with clients. As with hypnotherapy, Guided Imagery targets the right side of the brain which is where the subconscious resides. Belle Ruth Naparstek LCSW, is the author of "Staying Well with Guided Imagery" and has done pioneering work in the field. I use many of her materiels in my practice. Ms. Naparstek describes Guided Imagery as "a directed, deliberate kind of daydreaming that mobilizes your unconscious to assist with conscious goals. Imagery drops like a depth charge into the most primitive parts of your brain. You are fundamentally enlisting the power of your imagination to heal." I strongly believe in the mind-body connection and Guided Imagery can help with these issues as well. I have seen amazing things happen for my clients when we enlist the help of Guided Imagery. It truly proves to them that they are, in fact, the experts on themselves!
